Kota Kinabalu: Hat-trick from Korean import Lee Gil Hoon saw Sabah Rhinos thrashed Perlis 5-1 in the Premier League match at the Likas Stadium on Tuesday night. It was the biggest win for the team this season and the other two goals were scored by another import Rodoljub Paunovi from Croatia.

The two foreign imports signed during the opening window proved to be great buys as they combined to tear the Perlis defence apart.

Rodoljub opened the scoring first in the 33rd minutes with a powerful low shot after receiving the pass from Lee Gil Hoon, and it was his third opener for the team in the last five games.

The score line remained 1-0 at the end of the half despite the dominance display by the home team.

However, there was no denial for them in the second half when Lee who was running all over the pitch finally rewarded with a penalty after he was fouled inside the box in the 57th mistake.

He took the spot kick himself and made no mistake to give Sabah Rhinos a 2-0 lead.

Rodoljub then added his second with a beautiful curving shot that found it's way past Perlis custodian four minutes later.

Despite letting in a goal by Perlis foreign import Ndumba Makeche from Australia in the 66th minutes, man of the match Lee ensured there was no late fight back from the visitors as he scored his second with a solo effort in the 73rd minutes before putting the result without doubt with his third three minutes from time.

With the three points collected, Sabah are now seventh in the table standing with 27 points from eight wins, three draws and nine defeats. Their next match is against Kuala Lumpur away on September 29. - GL OH
