Keningau: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Youth Exco Chief Datuk Jake Jikulin Nointin announced immediately ditching the party in front of some 1,000 party members. He said the decision was made after some thorough analysing and hard thinking.

He said that the party has always been resilient to bring about prosperity, development, safety and preserving the local's rights but achieving the goals has always been dependent on the policy of the party leader.

"Lately it has been obvious that the leadership in the party is no longer focused on the people and the State for reasons that has sparked various assumptions and perceptions," he told a press conference.

"And with the current situation, we can no longer have a solid justification to continue our political fight through PBS and hope that other members in the party would accept and understand our decision of leaving PBS," he added.

Although speculation was rife that he would be joining newly-launched opposition Parti Warisan Sabah, Nointin said he was not joining any other party just yet.

Nointin, who is also PBS supreme council member, the Liawan division chief and Jetama Sdn Bhd general manager, said he was leading a group of supporters, including several division leaders in leaving the party. - Eleanor Ruby
