Kota Kinabalu: A group of former Matabian squatters now residing in Taman Keramat here has set up a new residents committee to assist in solving their predicament. The committee was set up during a courtesy call on Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau at his residence in Penampang, on Friday.

Tangau had advised them to form the committee to make it easier for them to discuss with the authorities.

He also asked them to finalise the list of residents. It was done later and came up to 30 names, all locals.

"All of you should be part of the solution. Before this, I know all of you did not want to work together and because of that you are now facing this predicament," he told the residents.

Tangau, who is also Tuaran MP, advised them to be united and form a new set of committee to bring up all their suggestions to the authorities.

The committee comprises Boilie Sinor (chairman), Simun Joseph (deputy chairman), Mary Wong (secretary), Walter Luis (assistant secretary), Jonas Joseph (treasurer) and six committee members - Zainah Akim, Asimah Kalbi, Paulus Simban, Daunas @ Jonas Ramitan, Ceila Kuing and Leong Peng Kiang.
