Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian pro Nicholas Fung (pic) will be vying to make up for his past disappointment at the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship (TPC) to be held for four days, starting Thursday in Taiwan. The 27-year old Sabahan took a lead after 14th holes in the final round, last year but conceded two bogeys on the 15th and 17th to settle for joint third with Scott Barr of Australia."I learnt a lot from last year because I finished runner-up on a few occasions. ADVERTISEMENT Last year I pushed myself too hard to win my first Asian Tour title. The Yeangder TPC was a good example because I was leading by two shots and I thought I was going to win after 13 holes," he was quoted as saying in the Asian Tour website www.asiantour.com."On the 14th hole I hit a nice approach shot and I had a good chance for birdie but missed," he added. Therefore, Fung noted that he would not put unnecessary pressure on himself but instead enjoy his game in the US$500,000 (RM2.112 million) meet held at the Linkou International Golf and Country Club."I had a good week in the Taiwan Masters for three rounds but did not play too well on the last day. Again, I was trying so hard to finish in the top ten. Now I know myself better. I want to finish inside the top ten on the Asian Tour Order of Merit standings. That's my goal for 2017. It is still possible because I'm not far away. Another win will help me achieve that goal," added Fung who is currently ranked 21st in the standings. – Bernama
