Sibu set to get new industrial area

Sibu: Sibu, the gateway to Central Sarawak, is set to get a new industrial area in the quest to boost the thriving business community, especially small and medium enterprise sector. Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan said the state government through the Land and Survey Department was the midst of identifying 40 hectares of land for the purpose."We are now working on the land acquisition. Of course, it has to be done in phases," he told reporters after closing an Entrepreneur and Industry Development Seminar here yesterday.

Sibu has two industrial areas, namely the Upper Lanang Industrial Estate (Mixed Light Industries) and the Rantau Panjang Ship Building Industrial Estate.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Earlier in his speech, Awang Tengah, who is also State Industrial and Entrepreneur Development Minister, said the state government had approved RM10.5 million to improve the Rantau Panjang Ship Building Industrial Estate's infrastructure and expand the area in order to enhance its growth potential. "We have some funds and will work with the Land and Survey Department for land acquisition," he said. – Bernama
