Kota Kinabalu: The Soft Tennis Open and Junior Age Groups Championship jointly organised by Sabah Soft Tennis Association (SSTA), Sabah Sports Council and Sabah Sports Board will be held at The Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex from October 19-22.SSTA president Richard Shak said they have to make it a four-day competition due to shortage of courts.

It is understood that two courts are judged not fit enough for competition as they may pose danger to the players and as a result, only four courts will be used for the open events on October 19 and 20.

The age groups for the beginners, 12/U, 10/U and mini soft tennis will be held at SM Shan Tao on October 21 and 22 where nine officials will be engaged.

Richard also said the Open event will serve as platform for the selection of players for the 7th Thailand Open International Soft Tennis Championship 2018 to be held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Bangkok on February 21-27, 2018.

Entry fee is RM30 and further information can be obtained from tournament referee Azis Bin Atoh at 019-8818554.

The public is urged to give their support and high tea will be served, as well as lucky draws to win soft tennis rackets during the awards ceremony to be held on Sunday (Oct 22) at 5pm. - GL Oh
