French Festival to be held here

Kota Kinabalu: The French Government will introduce the French Festival for the first time here in April next year.The French Ambassador to Malaysia, Frederic Lapianche said bilateral relationship between Malaysia and France has resulted in great collaboration in the defence, tourism and economic growth.

He said the relationship and cooperation between Malaysia and France has long been established, especially in the submarine field.

"However, our collaboration in the tourism industry and economy is also noticeable as France is prominent in this particular field," he said.

"We are also currently working on collaborations in the education and cultural sector in the State," he told the press after a courtesy visit to the Head of State, Tun Dr. Hj Juhar Datuk Mahiruddin at Istana Negeri, Monday.

Frederic said the visit was to inform Juhar about his appointment as the new French Ambassador.

He also said that a French Destroyer was currently docked at the Sepanggar Port for a five-day from Oct 21-24.

Earlier, the French Ambassador also paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman at the Ministry of Finance in Likas.
