Car dealer jailed for threatening to kill ex-girlfriend's parents

Kuala Lumpur: A car dealer was sentenced to six months' jail by the Ampang Magistrate's Court here Monday for threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend's parents when they refused to allow him to meet the woman.Magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali handed down the sentence on S.Munesh Kumar, 36, after the man pleaded guilty to the charge.

Munesh Kumar, who is a widower with a child, was charged with committing criminal intimidation on R. Malathi, 55, by threatening to kill her and her husband at their house in Taman Mulia, Ampang, here at 4 pm last April 18.

He was ordered to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest on May 15 this year.

In mitigation, Munesh Kumar, represented by lawyer Kelvinder Singh Sidhu, apologised for his action and said he was remorse.

Deputy public prosecutor Norhashimah Hashim prosecuted.

Meanwhile, in PETALING JAYA, a food trader was fined RM4,000, in default nine months' jail, by the Magistrate's Court here Monday for smashing the windscreen of his cousin's car two weeks ago.

Magistrate Fadzlin Suraya Mohd Suah meted out the fine on Firza Ajmeer T S K Farook, 40, who pleaded guilty to committing the mischief on a car belonging to lorry driver Mohamed Zainudin Mohamed Yusuf, 39, in front of a restaurant here at 11.30 pm last Oct 3.

Firza Ajmeer, who has five children and unrepresented, was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code which provides an imprisonment for up to five years, or with fine, or both, upon conviction.
