Ranau tragedy
Ranau: A man died while three others were severely injured when their 4x4 vehicle collided with a Toyota Vigo at the Ranau-Telupid Road on Monday, about 9km from Telupid Town, at about 6pm.Ranau Fire and Rescue Chief, Jimmy Lagung said:

"When our units arived at the scene, we found that the ill fated vehicle had plunged to a nearby bush.

However the public had extracted four trapped individual consisting of three men and one woman from the vehicle.

"Three of the severely injured victims were rushed to the Telupid Hospital by passersby, while a man who did not regain conciousness was handed over to the police for further action," he said.

Jimmy said it was believed that the incident occured when the driver of the Vigo lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid at the right side of the road and overturn before it plunged into a bushy area nearby.

He said the department's effort later focused on checking the surrounding areas in order to ensure that there are no other dangers which could threaten public safety or which might cause another accident. - Clarence G Dol
