Kota Kinabalu: A broken leg did not stop a student from attending her convocation at the Sabah National Department of Culture and Arts building here, Monday.Almacrest International College (AIC) student Irmah Maizurah Maisani, 21, was on her way back from the convocation rehearsal when she was hit by a speeding motorcyclist at Jalan Tuaran Bypass. She said while she was crossing the road, the traffic light suddenly changed from red to green and the next thing she knew – she was sprawled on the road, unconscious.ADVERTISEMENT A motorcycle had rammed into her. The motorcyclist was slightly injured in the 3pm incident, Sunday.Although the motorcyclist only escaped with light injuries, Irmah suffered a broken right leg, and according to a doctor, will take around eight weeks to heal completely. She also suffered injuries to her left hand, which makes it difficult for her to move properly."At first, my family was against me attending the convocation but I was determined to go.ADVERTISEMENT "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am sure they would like to witness me graduate."With their support and encouragement, I was able to attend the event successfully," she said.
