Stealing handphone: Woman jailed

Kota Kinabalu: A 22-year-old woman was jailed 24 months for stealing a handphone from her landlord.Goh Kim Yin admitted before Magistrate Afiq Agoes to stealing the handphone belonging to one Cheng Hin Kang, 72, in a unit at Block A, Phase 1, Beverly Hills, in Penampang, at 9am on Oct 17.According to the facts of the case, Goh was renting a room in Cheng's unit and that on the said day, Cheng left the house to buy newspaper leaving his handphone at the living room.

Goh stole the gadget while Cheng was out.She then sold the handphone at a shop in Sinsuran.Goh had committed an offence under Section 380 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to 10 years on conviction.In another case, two men were jailed after they pleaded guilty to having syabu.

Carlos Aronzon, 26, was handed 10 months' jail for having 0.04gm of syabu on Sept 4 in Putatan.Paul Saluang, 37, was sentenced to 12 months' jail for having 0.19gm of syabu on Sept 30 at Sadong Jaya.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man claimed trial to threatening to hurt his younger brother.Jobless Rozaimin Hassan is accused of committing the offence to one Suharmin Hassan, 19, at 2.15pm on Sept 20 in a house at Kg Numbak, Manggatal.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus fixed Nov 27 for trial and offered Rozaimin bail at RM2,000 in two sureties.Inspectors Rasydan Jasni and Albert Basiri prosecuted. – Jo Ann Mool
