Raping niece: Man, 62, to know fate on Nov 27

Kota Kinabalu: A 62-year-old man charged with raping his eight-year-old stepdaughter will know his fate on Nov 27. Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz set the date for the man who is accused of raping the minor at 10pm on Aug 16, 2016 at a house in Papar.The offence under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between 10 years and 30 years, and whipping, on conviction.

The man was ordered to enter his defence on Oct 6 after the prosecution had established a prima facie case against him.Deputy Public Prosecutor Husna Abdul Halim conducted the prosecution while the man was not represented.In the same court, nine foreigners were jailed four and five months each for staying in the State without valid documents.They were Mohd Salleh Tajudin, Jalib Hataman, Andan Razak, Malik Kudja, Embu Habe, Ali Mahmur, Ilham Rahmat, Mohd Arpah Baktiar and Siti Safrah Sappari, aged between 20 and 50.

They admitted to staying in the State illegally when the charge against them was read.The court also handed a stroke of the cane to the men except the young offenders.
