Duo cheat death in Ranau mishap
Ranau: A local electrical wireman and his cousin cheated death after two vehicles collided at Km 3 of the Ranau-Tamparuli road, Thursday.In the incident at about 9.35am, the victim's vehicle, a Toyota Fortuner was rammed on its left by a Ford Ranger, believed to be a rented vehicle driven by a tourist from China.

The incident was recorded via a dash cam inside a car not far from the incident.

District Police Chief DSP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah told the media that in the incident, the tourist was trying to overtake a lorry around a corner.

He said the Ford Ranger failed to overtake the lorry when the victim's vehicle was approaching, resulting in the collision.

Fortunately, he said no one was seriously injured in the incident, but both vehicles suffered damages.

Observation at the scene of the incident showed a winding road with continuous double lines, the road surface was dry, vision was clear and the weather was fine. - Clarence G Dol
