Two ex-convicts held for robbing students

Kota Kinabalu: Two ex-convicts suspected to be involved in an armed robbery was arrested by the police separately on Tuesday and Wednesday.District Police Chief ACP M Chandra said the suspects who are locals, aged 28 and 31, were arrested at Kampung Air and Sinsuran, and believed to have robbed two students at Asia City, last Saturday at 11.39pm.Chandra said the victims were threatened by the suspects with a knife before fleeing with two mobile phones, wallets, bank cards and RM40.

He added the suspects were tested positive for drugs and have previous criminal records involving robbery and drugs.The case will be investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code as well as Section 39C of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - Jeremy S Zabala
