MRCB records encouraging growth in revenue, PBT

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) recorded encouraging growth in revenue and pre-tax profit excluding disposal gains, in the first nine months of 2017.In a statement Tuesday, MRCB said, its pre-tax profit rose 5.6 per cent to RM115.8 million, excluding gains of RM44.4 million arising from the disposal of non-core assets in the first nine months of 2016.

The revenue in the first nine months of 2017 increased by 75.5 per cent to RM2.4 billion, it said.

"The engineering, construction and environment division (ECE division) contributed strongly in the first nine months of 2017, increasing revenue by 236.7 per cent to RM1.61 billion, while the operating profit from the division rose 365.7 per cent to RM46.5 million during the financial period," it said.

MRCB said the bulk of the division's revenue was contributed by infrastructure projects.

Group Managing Director, Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, said the MRCB anticipated the ECE division to play a more dominant role its future performance.

"It is pleasing to see the improvements in the division's operating margins and its order book wins.

The recent completion of our RM1.73 billion rights issue has significantly strengthened our balance sheet, and we are well-positioned to fund future growth," he said.

MRCB, an urban property and construction firm, has been listed on Bursa Malaysia's Main Board since 1971.
