Wildlife meat seized from second eatery

Sandakan: Sandakan Wildlife Department seized meat of protected species under the Wildlife Conservation Enactment 1997 from a restaurant owner at Kampung Wonod, Monday, the second time this month.Its officer Hussien Muin said a team from the Wildlife Department carried out Op Geledah at Telupid at about 1.35pm at the restaurant owned by a 57-year-old woman.Hussien said upon inspection, the team found deer meat weighing 5.4kg, deer bones of 2.2kg, wild cat meat 1.2kg, fox meat 2.4kg, wild boar meat 2kg, 10.2kg of cut softshell turtle along with 6.6kg of softshell meat.

"The confiscated products were brought to the Wildlife Enforcement Department Store at Sepilok, Sandakan for further investigation," he said.On Nov 12, the Sabah Wildlife Enforcement Unit carried out a raid at a restaurant at Mile 2, Jalan Bulbul, Semporna.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
