UiTM's charity ride to kick off in KK

Kuala Lumpur: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Alumni Association, through the 1 Billion Education Fund (TP1B), will organise a charity ride known as "Budi Ride" in a bid to help the less fortunate students nationwide.The ride, which involves 10 stages across Malaysia, will kick off at UiTM Kota Kinabalu on Dec 2 before it proceeds to the peninsula with pit stops at various UiTM campuses and ends at UiTM Kota Samarahan, Sarawak.The participants are divided into three categories, namely Individual 80km, Individual 30km and Group (80km).

Budi Ride chairman Datuk Ahiruddin Atan, or better known as Rocky Bru, said that the event aimed to promote public awareness on TP1B that was launched in 2015 and also to help young Malaysians to pursue their studies in their preferred fields."Budi Ride is scheduled to run through all the 30 UiTM campuses throughout the country as a part of the getting-to-know UiTM programmes, in a course of four months," he told Bernama today.The total distance for the BUDI Ride event will be around 2,218 km."We are still accepting registration and expecting at least 150 participants for the first round… so far the registrations are still coming in," he said.

For those who do not have a bicycle, Ahiruddin said they could refer to iSportsAsia to rent one for the event."We are also appealing for more sponsors to help us make this a successful event and let us together help the less fortunate children," he said.

The TP1B was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on April 11, 2015, with the aim to provide education aid to children from low-income families right up to university.Those interested to take part in the event encouraged to log on to http://www.isportsasia.com or Budi Ride Facebook page. – Bernama
