Brunei hulkster Zorizal is the champion of champions

Ranau: Weightlifting champion from Brunei Darussalam, Zorizal Johari, emerged as the overall champion (champion of champions) at the 2017 Mr. Borneo Bodybuilding Championship which took place here on Saturday.Earlier, Zorizal who competed in the 65 kilogram and below category topped the event after defeating Sabah's Terence Watis (runner-up) and Sarawak's Valentine Wong (third).

For the 85kg and above category, the champion title went to Remy Rahim (Sabah), the runner-up was Mohd Asyraf Akhmal (Sabah), while Teguh Santosa Ismail (Sabah) was third. Sabah contestant, Riano Engah won the 75-85kg bodybuilding category while two other teammates, Yakob Mengkabong and Rosliee Suyud took the runner-up and third spot respectively.

The physical category (Phy) 170cm saw Sarawak's Valentine Wong emerging champion with Terence Watis (Sabah) runner-up and Jesley Justin (Sabah) third.

Meanwhile, in Ranau's closed physical category (Physique), the champion was Reynold Kok after defeating four other participants, Mohd Azizan Harun (runner-up), Zulfikhar Brahim (third), Roya Pasda Daniel (fourth) and Affan Affandy (fifth).

Another Sabah participant, Henro Lee topped the 65-75kg category forcing his teammates, Paijar Upau and Suhaili Toipin also from Sabah, to settle for the runner-up and third placings.

In addition, the Sabah team was crowned Team Champion, while the Best Poser title went to Sarawak's Valentine Wong.

The competition, which was held for the first time in Ranau was jointly organised by the Ranau District Bodybuilding Association (RBBA), the Sabah State Assembly Association (SBBA) and the Ranau Umno Youth Movement.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Deputy Chairman of the Sabah State Board of Culture (LKNS), Datuk Jaimin Samitah, representing Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
