Cops: No drug factory
Tawau: No drug processing factory has so far been detected in Sabah, said Narcotic Criminal Investigation Department Chief Supt Mohamed Fadzil A Rahman.He said most of the drugs seized in the State were from the peninsula.

"So far, we have not discovered any drug processing factory in the State and will continue to investigate the source of drugs brought into the State," he said, adding that most of the drugs seized were brought into Sabah using various tactics, including via courier service," he said.

Mohamed Fazil was speaking at the second series disposal of drugs weighing 18,319.6893 grammes and estimated to be worth RM572,666 involving nine districts, here, Saturday.

The event was held at the Sawmill Khas Permata Sdn Bhd factory in Jalan Tanjung Baru Laut.

According to Mohamed Fazil, Sabah police have arrested 3,815 individuals in 3,081 cases of supplying and having drugs from January to October this year.

He said the police in the State also recorded seizures of syabu (66.6kg), ganja (6.89kg), ketamin (0.15kg), ephedrine (0.17kg) and ketum leaves (4.8kg) during the same period.

He added that 89 individuals were stringently acted upon under the Dangerous Drugs Act (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985 and 194 more individuals under Section 39C of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 in the State from January to November. - Lagatah Toyos
