Sabah Umno told to get set
Kuala Lumpur: Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman on Thursday reminded Sabah Umno leaders and members to go down to the ground in their respective constituencies and work hard ahead of next polls. He said they should never be complacent or careless in strengthening their election machinery and must work as a team with other BN components.

"Now is the time to go back to our constituencies and work hard and together to assure BN of a big victory," he said on the sidelines of the Umno General Assembly 2017 at the Putra World Trade Centre here.

He said Datuk Seri Najib Razak's presidential address carried a vital message and reminder to all Umno and BN members to be in high gear for the 14th general election (GE14).

He added that high commitment and dedication, coupled with BN's track record, would assure the coalition of a big victory.

"Hence, we need to disseminate all the facts and explain to the people, especially the grassroots, while we regularly go down to the ground to meet them," he said.

Musa, who is also Sabah BN Chairman, also welcomed Najib's address on cooperation among BN partners to ensure victory in the GE14 which must be called by mid-2018.

"He told us not to be complacent with the preparation for the election and to work hard together with the whole BN machinery," he said.

He said the members must also be careful and vigilant against the opposition which liked to slander, defame, spread lies and give empty promises to the people.

"We must be fully prepared for the coming election which is the most important not only for us but also for the future generations because we have good policies and good planning for all and Sabah."

Meanwhile, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Datuk Seri Teo Chee Kang welcomed the Prime Minister's assurance that Umno, as the backbone of the Barisan Nasional, is not only fighting a cause for the Malays but also all Malaysians from different ethnic origins.

He also welcomed the Prime Minister's renewed affirmation that Malaysia is governed based on the principles of "wasatiyyah" or moderation.

"I echo the Prime Minister's urge that BN must face the 14th General Election as a cohesive team and that there should not be boycott or sabotage once the candidates are announced," he said.

Teo said the level of solidarity among the BN component parties is high, more so in Sabah under the leadership of Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman.

He gave assurance that his party will work with all BN components in the coming election.

"Come the GE14, all LDP divisions shall assist and work with the local BN candidates (contesting in) the state and parliamentary (seats) to ensure that BN will continue to form the government with increased majority," he said.

Acting Upko President Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said it was apt that Najib made the call so that efforts to face the GE14 would be done in a concerted way.

"The call and battle cry announced by Najib in his policy speech were for everyone to move as one team and with full confidence that we are on the right platform, to take swift action and resolve problems in a kindred spirit, to fight in the cyberspace and digital world and to fight as hard as possible knowing we have done the best rather than leaving to fate," he said.

Tangau, who is also Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, said BN has a proven track record.

He said Upko also welcomed the assurance by Najib that Sabah and Sarawak will never be left out in the development mainstream such as the on-going toll free Pan Borneo project.

"The people should give another mandate to the BN to ensure continuity in the progress," he said.

Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Secretary General Datuk Johnny Mositun said BN has proven that it is a government for all Malaysians that has done its best to ensure the welfare of the people is well looked after.

He said BN has delivered and this is the reason why people are now supporting the Government.

"PBS also supports Umno President Datuk Seri Najib Razak's call for all in BN to be more united in the coming GE14 so that we can counter what is thrown at us by the opposition," he said.

Mositun also stressed that this is a sign that BN will go back to the people.

He also took the opposition to task for always making excuses and claiming that BN has not done anything for the people.

"These are just lies as what BN has achieved is clearly seen in the development and progress the country is enjoying.

"PBS will work with all BN component parties to ensure that the coalition is victorious in the coming general election," Mositun said. - Hayati Dzulkifli
