Help for Kota Belud and Membakut
Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman said the State Government has mobilised the necessary resources to assist the flood victims in Kota Belud.He said the State Disaster Relief Committee has been activated to assist those affected including relocating them to shelters and handing out assistance such as food supplies and basic amenities.

"The State Government is closely monitoring the flood situation in Kota Belud. We are doing our level best to provide the necessary assistance to victims," he said. He advised those affected to be calm and listen to the directives issued by the relevant authorities for safety reasons.

"I also caution children to avoid playing in flood waters and for parents to keep a close watch on them," he said.

He has directed the Drainage and Irrigation Department to assess and put in measures to mitigate the flood problem in the district.

Incessant rain caused the district to suffer yet another flood, affecting 26 villages and nine roads, on Monday.

A Civil Defence Force (APM) spokesman said 409 people from 157 families have been moved to two evacuation centres at Tun Said Community Hall and SMK Taun Gusi II Hall while two more were opened to occupy other victims still in the process of registration.

Among the affected villages were Kg Donggoi, Kg Marajah, Kg Gunding, Kg Sadok-Sadok, Kg Sembirai, Kg Lingkodon, Kg Linau, Kg Lebak Moyoh, Kg Bobot, Kg Suang Punggur, Kg Menuggui, Kg Song-Song, Kg Sangkir, Kg Karang Benai, Kg Kota Bungan, Kg Tawadakan, Kg Lentigi, Kg Tanjung Wakap, Kg Lebak Engad, Kg Keranjangan, Kg Rangalau, Kg Tombol, Kg Siasai Tamu, Kg Limatok, Kg Pompod and Kg Kota Belud.

Roads such as Jln Kg Marajah-Kg Donggoi, Jln Lebak Moyoh bypass Kudat, Jln Kg Sembirai, Jln Kg Lebak Engad, Jln Kg Linau, Jln Kg Menunggui, Jln Kg Bobot, Jln Kota Belud and Jln Siasai Tamu have been badly affected stopping vehicles from passing through.

He also reported that the water level for Sg Kedamaian is currently normal at 1.05 metre but for Sg Tempasak is currently at a worrying level of 4.76 metres and Sg Abai at a dangerous level of 5.68 metres.

Rescue and evacuation operation was carried out by 261 personnel and officers from several agencies such as police, marine police, General Operation Force, Fire and Rescue Department, military, Rela, Public Works Department, District Council, Welfare Department, Information Department Hospital and Health along with Non-governmental organization, Kota Belud 4X4 Club.

Meanwhile, Membakut has opened an evacuation centre as the rain that has stopped affected seven villages affecting 20 people from six families.

APM the villages affected were Kg Baitam, Kg Jambatan Baru, Kg Papas, Kg Kayai, Kg Limadang, Kg Brunei and Kg Lumantak but no roads were affected.

Some 36 personnel and officers from different agencies such as police, district office, Fire and Rescue Department as well as Welfare Department teamed up in the rescue and evacuation process.
