Papar: Gerakan Muda Sabah (Gema) has put the blame on Umno and the Barisan Nasional for failing to safeguard the interest of Sabah and Sabahans. The youth movement from political parties in Gabungan Sabah pointed out that the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on the issue of illegal immigrants in the state is a clear example of their failure as the process has not been able to resolve it, including the "Project IC" scandal.

Its chief Jamain Sarudin said Gema is now going all out to explain to the people how the ruling coalition has failed them while at the same time promote the core objectives of Gabungan Sabah which are to restore the rights of the State as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and to fight for autonomy.

He said they will also explain to the people that Gabungan Sabah wants better economic planning for the State, reform in land policy, fight for oil rights and resolve the issue of illegal immigrants and "Project IC".

"Sabahans have been plagued with these problems for so many years now. Umno and the Barisan Nasional government must take the blame," he said in a statement.

He said Gabungan Sabah Papar has also started preparations for the coming election by organising walkabouts in Kinarut and Papar townships last weekend, which was part of Gema's series of tours statewide.

According to him, many people would want to see a straight fight between the BN and the opposition during the next election so as not to repeat the mistake in 2013.

However, he clarified as far as Gabungan Sabah is concerned, a one-to-one contest is down to a Malaya agenda versus the Borneo agenda.

He also said that other than explaining to the people, the purpose of the walkabout was to promote the alliance as an alternative government that they can vote for.
