Teacher denies dishonest removal of RM9,987

Kota Kinabalu: A 41-year-old man was charged at the Magistrate's Court here, Tuesday, with dishonest removal of property involving RM9,987.89.Irwan Japaran, a private school teacher, pleaded not guilty to dishonestly removing the money belonging to one Chin Hit Ket to his Bank Simpanan Nasional's account.

He allegedly committed the offence at 10.50am on Aug 9, 2014 at the CIMB Bank Bhd at Inanam Commercial Centre.

The charge under Section 424 of the Penal Code provides an imprisonment for up to five years, or fine, or both, if found guilty.

Inspector Albert Basiri, prosecuting, proposed bail of RM6,000 but Irwan, who was not represented, requested for a lower bail amount.

Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus set Jan 17 for case management and offered Irwan RM3,300 bail in two sureties.

In another case, a 35-year-old self-employed claimed trial to faking the signature of his business partner on documents to transfer a property.

Ronnie Liew Ken Vui is accused of using the fake signature of Raymond Chua Yan Hoo on the Power of Attorney and a company resolution letter dated April 14, 2014 to transfer a 4WD vehicle.

He is alleged to have committed the offence at the Bon Automobile at Mile 4, Jalan Tuaran in Likas at 10.30am on April 14, 2014.

The charge under Section 471 of the Penal Code is punishable under Section 465 of the same Code which carries a jail term of up to two years or fine or both on conviction.

However, Chua, who was present in court, informed the court that he had lodged a police report to retract the said report.

Chua said he will settle the matter amicably with Liew.

Albert applied for another mention date to get an instruction from the Deputy Public Prosecutor's (DPP) office and proposed bail at RM3,000.

Chua, who was not represented, requested for the bail amount to be reduced.

The court fixed Jan 17 for the DPP's instruction and released Liew on a bail of RM2,800 in two sureties.

Meanwhile, seven people were penalised for committing drug-related offences.

Kamizan Yakub, Md Zaifullah Rahim and Liau Hau Ying pleaded guilty to having syabu weighing at 0.20gm, 0.07gm and 0.18gm, respectively on Oct 12, July 18 and Nov 8 here.

Kamizan and Md Zaifullah were sentenced to six months' jail each while Liau was fined RM2,600 or seven months jail.

Benhadan Naldo, Md Reda Saringa, Usin Md Tiblani and Mahaden Abdul admitted to taking Amphetamine and Methamphetamine last month.

Md Reda was jailed eight months while the rest were handed six months jail. - Jo Ann Mool
