Condor Airlines to commence Frankfurt-KL flight next year

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia Airports and Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (Tourism Malaysia) Thursday announced that Condor Airlines from Germany will commence its Frankfurt-Kuala Lumpur route during the Northern Winter in 2018.To facilitate this, Tourism Malaysia inked a Memorandum of Marketing Collaboration (MoMC) with Condor Airlines at Condor Flugdienst GmbH in Frankfurt on Wednesday, marking the beginning of a joint marketing initiative with Condor Airlines utilising a promotional fund set up between Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Airports.The ceremony was witnessed by Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Tourism Malaysia Deputy-Director General (Promotions) Datuk Seri Abdul Khani Daud and Chief Executive Officer of Condor Airlines Ralf Teckentrup, said Malaysia Airports. I am happy that we are able to expand our connectivity from Europe, which will further enhance KLIA as a regional hub."The collaboration that Malaysia Airports and Tourism Malaysia recently established is instrumental to woo airlines like Condor Airlines to start operations to Malaysia," Badlisham said.Condor Airlines finalised its decision to operate its maiden flight to Malaysia during the World Travel Market in London last month. The airline would commence a thrice-weekly service in November 2018, utilising the A330-200 aircraft that would provide capacity for about 850 inbound passengers, weekly.ADVERTISEMENT With the scheduled flight by Condor Airlines, it is hoped that European passenger numbers, particularly from Germany, would increase.Currently, there is no direct flights between Germany and Kuala Lumpur since the withdrawal of services by Malaysia Airlines and Lufthansa.

Malaysia Airports and Tourism Malaysia have been working hand-in-hand in wooing airlines from Europe, and the entrance of Condor Airlines would enhance the connectivity from Europe to Malaysia, said the statement. Prior to this, Malaysia Airports and Tourism Malaysia finalised a Memorandum of Understanding to promote, develop and increase inbound tourism globally particularly from India, China and Europe. This joint marketing initiative required both parties to establish a promotional fund, to be used to support marketing campaigns by airlines and travel industry partners. The establishment of this initiative was timely as it augured well for new airlines like Condor Airlines that needed to develop inbound tourism into Malaysia, added the statement.Condor Airlines currently operated 62 destinations out of a few cities in Germany including Frankfurt and Munich. – Bernama
