'Don't sell hampers with items close to expiry'

Kota Kinabalu: Business operators, particularly supermarkets and retail shops, have been urged not to sell gift hampers which contain food and beverage items which are close to expiry. Malaysian Consumer Protection Association (MPCA) Sabah Chapter Chairman David Chan said there have been incidents where consumers open their gift hampers only to find that the food items inside are about to expire the next day. He said business operators must make sure that the hamper contains items which is at least six months before expiry date.

He said this was particularly important especially with Christmas festive season coming up.
