Filipino jailed for trying to rob woman of handphone

Kota Kinabalu: A Filipino labourer was jailed for 30 months for attempting to rob a woman of her smartphone.Rajmie Safar, 33, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Afiq Agoes to attempting to rob salesgirl Nuranisa Alsaidi, 29, of her handphone at the five-foot-way of Block J, Segama Complex at 7.50pm on Dec 5.Inspector Rasydan Jasni, prosecuting, said Rajmie tried to grab the smartphone from the hand of Nuranisa, who was walking in the area.ADVERTISEMENT Nuranisa put a fight but Rajmie shove her, causing her to shout for help.The public helped in apprehending Rajmie and was subsequently handed over to the police.Rajmie had committed an offence under Section 393 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to seven years and liability of a fine on conviction.Meanwhile, another Filipino was jailed eight months for impersonating as an soldier.ADVERTISEMENT Husin Rajik, 33, admitted to having a copy of a fake army identification card under the name of Mohd Yusuf Junsin at the CC Reflexology Centre in University Plaza, Jalan Sulaman in Manggatal at 10pm on Dec 5.Husin, who worked as a caretaker of the premises, produced the said document when police went to the place.

Investigations also revealed that there was no immigration record of Husin in entering or leaving the State.Husin was charged under Section 170 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to two years or fine or both on conviction.In the same court, another Filipino, Pengpi Rudi, was jailed 30 months and fined RM50 or another two months for shoplifting.Jobless Pengpi, 48, confessed to have stealing three torchlights and a wallet from the DIY shop at Imago Shopping Mall here at 7.40pm on Dec 11.Rajmie, Husin and Pengpi were also sentenced to four months' jail and one stroke of the cane each by the Sessions Court for staying in the State illegally.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
