KIULU: The people in the areas where Barisan Nasional (BN) fared badly in the previous election are becoming more receptive to the coalition, especially via Upko, said its acting President Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.Tangau attributed the inroads to the decision to have one BN polling district centre (PDM) chief, which he further said was a major achievement for the BN in forging a strong united team in facing the election.

"Furthermore, encouraging response was also felt during the party's recent programmes at Kampung Tambulaong and Kampung Dansangai in Kauluan, Kiulu," he said at the opening of the Dewan Pisompuruan Kampung Dansangai, Thursday.

At least 100 new members have handed their application forms to join Upko.

Tangau, who is also Tuaran MP cum Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, said the latest development was an indication that the BN's development programmes and sincere efforts had touched the heart of the people.

He said Tuaran BN was working as a team to bring development to the people.

"We are far from being over-confident; we know there is still a real need to continue working hard.

But all indications are in the affirmative, that the BN is getting better support now.

"Upko is on the ground on a daily basis. We feel the pulse of the people.

And more importantly, we are contributing directly to the betterment of all."

On hand at the event were PBS Kiulu Chief Datuk Louis Rampas, Kiulu People Development Leader Kumin Gapai, Director of Operation for Tuaran MP, Joisin Romut, PDM BN Rangalau Chief Taipoi Gomuk, PDM BN Kilang Bata Chief Sali Kilau and PDM BN Telibong Chief Juliana Singkun.
