Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman Monday advised civil servants to disregard naysayers who will always underestimate, even deny the development and progress achieved although visible before their eyes while enjoying the benefits. He said these political critics besides undermining the Government and its administration, have also questioned the administration's style of less talk and more action – our diplomatic principle of not speaking openly and loudly in championing the rights and interests of the people and the State. Addressing over 1,000 civil servants at the Chief Minister General Assembly with State and Federal Civil Servants 2018 at the State Administration Centre's main auditorium, Monday, he said he was also saddened by the actions of certain irresponsible parties who issue statements and provocations linked to race and religion, while fanning narrow state sentiments. ADVERTISEMENT He said the people must not lose sight of the fact that the key to the present and future success of the nation lies in our unity."We should be grateful for the blessings of peace, stability and harmony. In fact, this diversity has become the strength, uniqueness and recipe of our success," he said."All this while, we have lived peacefully and harmoniously in Sabah, like siblings in a huge family. This is our home, this is our State, and this is the land we spill our blood on. ADVERTISEMENT "Thus, we have to continue to be united to keep the peace and harmony, to protect our various cultural heritage, because without this, Sabah will lose its biggest and most priceless asset." Musa who led the State Barisan Nasional to three election victories since 2003, also touched on the success achieved by the State over the years, good relations between State and Federal government, the development of oil and gas, poverty eradication, communal grants issuance, human capital development, youth and women development and conservation.

"This is not my individual achievement and success as the Chief Minister or Finance Minister. This is the achievement and success of us all, due to hard work, support, loyalty and commitment from everyone. This is a result of cooperation from the men and women in the civil service as the important implementer. "Without your (civil servants) support and hard work, we would not have reached this level of achievement and success. Believe that we are on the right track. "We are on the best platform to continue the success and development. Civil servants across the State, not only at the headquarters, but also at district and sub-district level, are friends and team mates, we are a team." He hoped civil servants Statewide would continue to be efficient and effective in carrying out their tasks. "What's more important is to ensure positive impact and benefits can be enjoyed by the targeted group and the people in general," he said. "Remember that whatever the policy and programmes planned and implemented by civil servants, it not only portrays the image of civil servants but also translates into the authority of the ruling government. "May this General Assembly further ignite the spirit and commitment towards development and ensure the continuity of success for the prosperity, success and harmony for us and the generations to come," he said.
