FCAS wants mayor's term extended
Kota Kinabalu: The Federation of Chinese Associations of Sabah (FCAS) expressed full support for the extension of Datuk Yeo Boon Hai's tenure as Mayor for another term.FCAS president Tan Sri TC Goh in a statement said FCAS's endorsement of Yeo's extension was based on favourable feedback it gathered from the public, the Chinese community included.

"Everyone knows that Yeo is a very hardworking and approachable mayor. His office doors are always open for the people to see him, if they have any problem.

"Furthermore, being a Chinese-dominated city, Kota Kinabalu really needs a Mayor with able leadership like Yeo to ensure a smooth and dynamic development for the city. Yeo is definitely the right candidate for the job," he said.

Goh said it is a tradition that the Mayor here would normally get to serve for two terms, hence Yeo should be re-appointed for another term.

"We hope that Yeo could be re-appointed so that he could continue to serve the people of Kota Kinabalu, to bring about greater development for the city," he concluded.

Yeo succeeded his predecessor Datuk Abidin Madingkir as the 4th Mayor of Kota Kinabalu, on Feb 1, 2016.

Yeo was born in Sipitang has a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental biology from UK.

He joined the state civil service in 1980 as an environmental officer and held various important posts, including as Beaufort, and Kudat district officer and State Public Service Department principal assistant director.
