Putra Jaya: The Election Commission has denied receiving any new voter registration applications from army voters or creating a new locality at an army camp in Paloh, Johor in the Supplementary Electoral Roll (DPT) for the fourth quarter of 2017.Its chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah in a statement Wednesday also refuted allegations that there were new voters comprising army personnel and their spouses being registered at an army camp in Paloh and had been transferred from the Mahkota Camp in the Sembrong parliamentary constituency.

"The parties concerned can check the DPT for the fourth quarter of 2017 which is on display from Jan 17 to 30, 2018 at nearby locations," he added.

Meanwhile, in TANJUNG MALIM, early announcements of candidates were only suitable to be made for certain parliamentary and state seats in the upcoming 14th general election, said Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

He said further discussions would be held between the BN component parties on the announcement of candidates for certain parliamentary and state seats that needed to made earlier before the final decision.

However, he said, the final decision on the BN candidates and seat distribution for GE14 would be determined only by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as BN chairman, who would carefully study the candidates proposed by the component parties.

"The decision (announcing the candidate for the Kampar seat) was made by MCA based on discussions among them, especially in the Kampar division, and it was not an unexpected announcement.

"I think the decision was made based on the agreement between the MCA president (Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai) and vice-president (Senator Datuk Lee Chee Leong) over the Kampar seat and it will be brought to the BN top leadership for the final decision," he said after chairing a state executive council meeting at the Muallim District and Land Office.

Last Sunday, Liow announced Lee as the candidate for the Kampar parliamentary seat, Kampar MCA deputy chief Chang Gwo Chyang as candidate for the Malim Nawar state seat and division secretary Daniel Wa Wai How, for the Keranji state seat in GE14.

Zambry, who is also Perak Menteri Besar, said he had also held discussions on the general election candidacy with state and national MCA leaders.

"We always discuss the matter together. However, in the context of the Kampar seat, the MCA president felt that an early announcement had to be made but the final decision depends on the BN chairman," he added.
