Regent 'angry and offended' over insult hurled at Pahang Sultan

KUANTAN: The Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, said Wednesday he was "angry and offended" over the insult hurled at his father, the Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah, and the circulation on social media of a video recording of his father in his bedchamber.He said Pokok Sena MP Datuk Mahfuz Omar had breached discipline by having insulted Sultan Ahmad Shah at a political talk."I do not want to say anything much but if we are to listen to the (Mahfuz's) speech (that went viral on social media), he has breached discipline.

"We, as Malays, are taught to respect the elders, more so rulers … so don't do anything unacceptable," he said to reporters after visiting victims of a fire in the Sungai Isap 2 settlement here.On the viral video footage of Sultan Ahmad Shah in his bedchamber, Tengku Abdullah said it was recorded during the sultan's birthday and had become public.He said he became all the more offended because the video was recorded by someone who was in the palace, and this made him want action to be taken against the individual."I do not want to say anything much (about Mahfuz and the viral video footage).

I believe an investigation has begun because many police reports have been lodged by NGOs. I leave it to the authorities (to handle the matter)," he said.
