Duo detained with 660gm of syabu

Sandakan: Police here arrested two suspects and seized an estimated 660 grams of syabu through an inspection and a raid on Monday.District Police Chief ACP Mohd Azhar Hamin said a man and a local woman, in their thirties, were arrested after an inspection on a vehicle at a petrol station in Batu 12, here, at around 9am. He said a Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) team from IPD Sandakan had found six plastic packets containing crystals believed to be syabu during the inspection. Azhar said at around 10.50am on the same day, JSJN had also raided a hotel room in Batu 4 and found a black plastic with eight plastic packets inside, containing crystals believed to be syabu which was suspected to be the man and woman's. "Police seized 660 grams of syabu from the man and woman, in which the man was found positive for drugs," he said this in a statement, Tuesday. He said the case was investigated under Section 39B and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - Mardinah Jikur
