Kota Kinabalu: Civil servants especially members of Politeknik Kota Kinabalu (PKK) are to maintain the attitude of honesty and integrity in the discharge of duties and staying away from any corrupt conduct.Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic Director Zainab Othman said all PKK members should be in the process of integrating their responsibilities so that the quality of service is always up-to-date and avoids any negative behaviour that can corrupt the image, credibility and reputation of the institution.

'We as leaders and educators need to realise that every time and we have tasks where we are faced with corruption activities without us being aware of it. Therefore, we must always adhere to existing rules and remember ourselves to stay away from doing corrupt practices, "she explained.

Zainab said this while attending and witnessing the Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic Level Signing Ceremony on Corruption-Free Corruption Pledge (IBR) in collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here. Zainab added, IBR is the best platform by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to raise awareness about the dangers of corruption.

In this regard, each member must be self-sufficient and pledge to avoid corrupt practices that have unhealthy impact on the entire public service and affect the development and well-being of the community, she added.

Meanwhile, Sabah MACC Deputy Director (Prevention), Zulkefle Abd. Hamid in his briefing said that overall corruption in Malaysia is still under control.
