Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government continued its momentum in managing the economy in line with the commitment and spirit of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) when it posted record high state revenue of RM6.973 billion last year.
"It would be a mockery for the State Government after having gone through the process (of gazetting them)," he said.

In 2016, the State Assembly passed a bill that saw the seats increased from 60 to 73.

Parliament has yet to pass the amendment.

Dr Jeffrey, who was one of 55 assemblymen who voted in favour of the amendment, reiterated that it will be disrespectful to the State Constitution if what has been decided by the State Assembly is not complied with.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Rahman Dahlan had said few days ago that there was still room for discussion between the Prime Minister and Chief Minister on whether Sabah should go into the general election based on the 60 state seats or 73.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reportedly said the motion on the re-delineation of election boundaries would be tabled at the Parliament only and need not go to Dewan Negara.

He said the motion, to be tabled by the head of the parliamentary council, only needs a simple majority of 111 out of the 220 MPs. - Leonard Alaza
