Kuala Lumpur: AFFINBANK Group (Affin) is collaborating with the Asian Banking School (ABS) for a customised programme on operational risk review, and scenario analysis awareness and implementation. In a joint statement Monday, they said the programme would improve Affin's operational risk management practices, build robust methodologies and a multi-dimensional approach to develop and analyse operational risk scenarios.

"It will equip and empower relevant personnel within the bank with relevant knowledge and tools including Train-the-Trainer certification," said the statement.

Affin Bank Bhd, Group Chief Executive Officer Kamarul Ariffin Mohd Jamil, said the bank is delighted to customise the programme with ABS, which would enable Affin to further align its operational risk management practices with regulatory expectations.

"This programme is expected to equip our executives with the necessary knowledge and skillsets to manage emerging risks by performing additional operational risk identification and assessment via the scenario analysis approach," he said.

Meanwhile, ABS Chief Executive Officer, Professor Colyn Gardner, said the continued trust by Affin Bank to develop its talent affirmed the high standards that ABS set when developing training programmes for the industry.

"It is especially encouraging as well when you have senior management, like at Affin, recognising the need for continued learning and emphasising the importance of training throughout their organisation," he added. –Bernama
