Kota Kinabalu: The State Government should take the issue of the dilapidated train system in Sabah more seriously.Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) Sabah Information Chief Abdul Hisham said this in relation to the recent incident which took the life of a 15-year-old girl while travelling from Beaufort to Tenom in a train.

On March 19, the girl was forced to stand near the door because the train was full and she died after being dragged 50 metres as her legs got trapped.

Hisham expressed his condolences on behalf of PAS Sabah and said the related parties should take the incident as a lesson.

"It was understood that the train between Beaufort and Tenom does not have a perfect ticketing system in addition to having dilapidated coaches. This matter should be given attention considering that trains are among the main means of transportation between the two districts.

"This issue had triggered anger from Sabahans, especially from the aspect of development.

In the Peninsula, they have faster trains and various modern transportation.

This is very different with the transportation in Sabah, which is lagging behind," he said this during a visit to the victim's house in Kg. Entabuan, Tenom.
