Sabah U-19s battle to scoreless draw

Kota Kinabalu: The State Youth Cup squad battled out a goalless draw with Group A leaders Terengganu in the Youth Cup tie at the Penampang on Wednesday.It was a poor opening half and there was no shots on target and the second half was more open as both teams managed to mount several attacking moves into the box.Sabah's best chance came to Leonardo Lisua but the player blasted the shot sky high from inside the box after some good work by Sharizan Saidin.

Goalkeeper Joslan Aping who had a nervy first half also proved his worth with several good saves at the other end.The one point earned saw Sabah remain in fourth place with 15 points from four wins, three draws and two losses, four points behind Terengganu, two behind PKNS in second, and one adrift of Kuala Lumpur in third.Meanwhile, team manager Azman Mastar admitted the players were tired especially towards the end with several suffering from cramps."The players were obviously very tired as the tight schedule saw them playing non-stop for nine matches and they were mostly away games as well.

"However, my players managed to restrict their chances and they were only able to try from long range which was a positive sign for the team and I hope they will improve as the season progresses," he said.
