Putra Jaya: Barisan Nasional (BN) has dismissed messages contained in several photographs circulating on social media which apparently showed a fatal accident involving a Sabah BN leader along with a box-filled with cash.According to a posting on www.barisannasional.org.my, today, the image has been dismissed as fake.

"The message (contained with the photos) is fake message and the cash in the box sent with the message had previously gone viral with the title 'pengedaran wang palsu' (distribution of counterfeit money) in Feb this year.

"PDRM (the police) have denied the authenticity of the photograph," read the posting.

Furthermore, the posting also cited a China Press report which stated that the accident did not involve Semporna Umno leader Datuk Abdul Hajan Gurimbang but his driver instead.

There was also no box filled with cash found as claimed, the posting added.

According to the message circulating along with four pictures, Abdul Hajan had died in an accident involving the Toyota Land Cruiser and a lorry when the box of cash was discovered in the 4x4 vehicle.

The four pictures included the accident between a Toyota Land Cruiser and a lorry; a box with bundles of RM100 notes; a rear view of the Toyota Land Cruiser, and the image of Abdul Hajan.

It was learnt that the driver is believed to have died at the scene of the accident which also involved a third vehicle, a Toyota Hilux Vigo.

Abdul Hajan's wife who was in the vehicle during the accident suffered internal abdominal bleeding and a fractured thigh bone and is currently warded at the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan, Sabah.
