Boy drowns in Papar river, another missing

Kota Kinabalu: The body of a 12-year-old boy was found about a kilometre away from where he and a 20-year-old man were last seen swimming in Sungai Bundusan, Pengalat Besar, in Papar, Sunday. The body was found by a group of fishermen at Pantai Bundusan at about 6.50am on Monday.Papar Police Chief DSP Ladamah Sulaiman identified the deceased as Petrus Lai Chuo Ming from Kg Takis, Papar and the man who is still missing as at press time as Ng Hoi Lang from Perak.ADVERTISEMENT The search covered five nautical miles along the coast and river estuary in the Pantai Kuala Bundusan area. The State Fire and Rescue Department, in a statement, said initial investigation showed the man, who works for the boy's father, went to the river for a dip with the boy and they were believed to have been swept away by currents.A search and rescue operation was mounted following a distress call at about 6.23pm on Sunday.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
