Kota Kinabalu: A soldier who allegedly raped his daughter has been picked up for questioning.Penampang Police Chief DSP Mohd Haris Ibrahim said Monday that the 37-year-old based in Kota Kinabalu was picked up at about 1.45am on April 21 following a police report lodged against him.

The detention of the man came after two teachers from a school in Penampang brought the 13-year-old girl to the hospital in Likas after she related her ordeal to one of them.

The girl, the eldest of five siblings, claimed to have been raped by her father at least twice a month since she was 10.

Initial findings showed that the alleged rape would take place when the girl's mother and siblings were asleep or when the girl's mother was not at home.

The girl also claimed that the last incident took place on April 15, as her mother and siblings slept in another room.– Sherell Jeffrey
