PETALING JAYA: PKR President Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail maintains that there is only one camp in the party – "my camp". Responding to intense speculation of a serious rift, she blamed the Barisan Nasional for creating such talk and said: "That is all just talk."

Speaking to reporters after a briefing for Pakatan Harapan candidates here, Dr Wan Azizah said the dropping of incumbents and other hopefuls "is part and parcel of politics".

It was reported an internal crisis was brewing within PKR between two factions, one led by party deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and another by Vice-President Rafizi Ramli, believed to be aligned with Dr Wan Azizah.

Azmin, Selangor's Mentri Besar, was not present at the briefing.

Pakatan Chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was at the press conference, intervened to say that it was Barisan which was facing problems.

"I heard of a revolt in many places. Some even indicated that they wanted to join Pakatan," he said, claiming that several of them were well-known political figures.

Asked if he could name them, Dr Mahathir said he could not give such details as he did not want to be taken to court.

The former Prime Minister, who will contest the Langkawi seat, acknowledged that those dropped would be disappointed.

He said Pakatan leaders would personally meet those who had been dropped to explain.

"We will meet and talk to them. Most of them will know that this is not about an election to choose candidates.

"It is an election to get rid of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak," he said.
