Najib told to report to MACC on Tuesday

Kuala Lumpur: Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has been summoned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) next week.Sources confirmed that officers from the anti-graft body served Najib with a notice to be present at the MACC's headquarters on Tuesday.A group of eight MACC officers were seen entering Najib's residence in Taman Duta at around 4pm Friday in two cars.ADVERTISEMENT The same group was seen leaving the house at around 5.45pm.Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor have been blacklisted by the Immigration Department and they are prohibited from leaving the country.Last week, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he expected charges to be filed against Najib following investigations into allegations against the former prime minister over the removal of hundreds of millions of US Dollars from the 1MDB fund.Four police cars that arrived at Najib's house Friday morning were there for around six-and-a-half hours before leaving with a mystery box.ADVERTISEMENT A blue plastic box was seen being loaded into one of the cars.The contents of the box are unknown and it is still unclear if the safe that police have been trying to crack since first entering the residence had been opened.

In the wee hours of Friday, police confirmed that 284 boxes filled with designer handbags, watches, jewellery and cash in various currencies from three luxury condominiums, which value is impossible to estimate due to its sheer volume, were seized.Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Amar Singh, who led the raids at Pavilion Residences here, said this was part of its investigations into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

This follows a police check earlier of five locations linked to Najib which includes his private residence in Taman Duta and two locations at Pavillion Residences.The other locations searched were Seri Perdana and the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya.
