Jail for making 14-year-old girl pregnant

Kota Kinabalu: A 21-year-old Filipino who raped an underaged girl which resulted in her giving birth to a baby boy, was jailed 10 years.Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz handed the sentence to Alman Saad who changed his plea and admitted to the charge against him on Monday.Alman had raped the 14-year-old girl at 7am in February 2017 at a worker's house in Lok Kawi, Kinarut.

The offence under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.The court ordered Alman to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest and be referred to the Immigration Department after serving his jail sentence.During mitigation, Alman who was not represented, asked for a light sentence.But, Deputy Public Prosecutor Husna Abdul Halim urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence.

The court heard that Alman was a cook at a restaurant in Lok Kawi and knew the victim.On the day of the incident, the victim went to the worker's house as she had left her purse there.
