Storekeeper jailed for stealing

Kota Kinabalu: A 28-year-old storekeeper was jailed 20 months for stealing from his workplace.

Ramsnaden Maigus pleaded guilty before Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus to stealing plumbing materials made from brass worth RM4,320 at Kah Len Hardware Sdn Bhd in Inanam at 9.31am on March 19, 2015.

The charge under Section 381 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both on conviction.

The court ordered Ramsnaden to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest on May 24, this year.

In another case, a 21-year-old shop assistant was fined RM1,400 or six months jail for having illegal 4D lottery paraphernalia.

Sartikah Abdul Kadir admitted before Magistrate Afiq Agoes to committing the offence at 4.30pm on Jan 31, 2017 at Kepayan Commercial Centre in Kepayan.

She was found to have six 4D slips, a book and RM100 cash when detained by police, the court heard.

Sartikah had committed an offence under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming House Act, which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to six months jail on conviction.
