Kuala Lumpur: Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd's (Kerjaya) wholly-owned subsidiary, Kerjaya Prospek (M) Sdn Bhd, has secured an RM138.6 million marine bridge contract from Tanjung Pinang Development Sdn Bhd (TPD).The contract was for the construction works of a marine bridge crossing the sea linking Jalan Seri Tanjung Pinang on Penang Island to Seri Tanjung Pinang Phase 2 (STP2) Island, Kerjaya said in a statement here.

It said the construction works would take about 27 months from its scheduled commencement on June 11, 2018, for targeted completion by Sept 10, 2020.

The project is expected to contribute to the revenue, earnings and net asset per share of the group for the financial years ending from 2018 to 2020.

"This is our first project with TPD and I would like to thank them for giving us the opportunity to be part of such an iconic project in Penang," said Kerjaya Executive Chairman Datuk Tee Eng Ho.

"With our strong outstanding order book of some RM3.02 billion, we expect this project and various other projects to contribute positively to our topline and bottomline growth for the next few years," he added.

TPD is a subsidiary of Eastern & Oriental Bhd and holds the concession rights to the two-phase development of the Seri Tanjung Pinang (STP) reclamation project, located at the northeast coast of Penang.

Phase 1 (STP1) involves a 97.1-hectare (ha) reclamation project located adjacent to STP on the main island which is fully reclaimed and close to completion, while STP2 comprises 307.56ha reclaimed island located across the waters to the east of STP1. – Bernama
