Buffalo, goats await Tamparuli Fest winners

Kota Kinabalu: Not hampers, motorcycles or cash rewards but a live buffalo and two Boer goats will be among the grand prizes to be won from the lucky draw contest that will be held at the 2018 Tamapruli Fest.The fest organised by Trade and Industry Ministry through the Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR) will be held from July 10-12 at the Tun Hamdan Community Hall, Tamparuli.Speaking at a press conference, DIDR Deputy Director Stephen Sampil said the festival will have several interesting activities, including showcasing local made products by Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) from all over Sabah, especially from the west coast.

"It is aimed to raise awareness of the bright and potential of Tamparuli-Tuaran-Kiulu as a avery promising complement and supplement to the overall business and economic development needs of the state especially Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Putatan," he said on Wednesday, adding that there would be around 100 SME exhibitors that would be participating.Aside from that, Sampil said it is also aimed to promote the surroundings and natural beauty as well as attraction for visitors who attend the festival could share to the other people who have yet to experience the phenomenal ambience.He said in line with the objective of encouraging upstream entrepreneurs, a Business Pitching programme and Business Sharing session would be organised where some 30 SMEs would share their ideas and expansion plans for their business.There will be also local talents performance from Kota Belud, Tuaran and Ranau as well as sporting events such as Bicycle Fun Ride, Eco-Run and Fishing competition along with their very own Master Chef Competition.
