Over 100 to take part in OCDN singing, talent contest

Kota Kinabalu: The Overseas Chinese Daily News (OCDN) 3rd Singing and Talent Competition is expected to attract more than 100 participants, said Sabah Publishing House Sdn Bhd (SPH) Managing Director, Datuk Clement Yeh, Tuesday.SPH publishes the OCDN and its sister paper, the Daily Express.Yeh said the competition will be divided into four categories – 5-9 years old, 10-14 years old, 15 years old and above and group category (between two and 10 participants).

Participants can sing in English, Mandarin or Malay. They are required to sing a song in the preliminary round and another song if they enter the final.Yeh said each category is limited to 30 people and participants can register by filling up the form published in the OCDN.The top 10 participants will receive prizes but only the top five in each category will sing or perform in the final.The venue for the preliminary rounds will be held at a yet-to-be-decided shopping complex while the final round will be held on Dec 15 at the Putera Theatre and Ballroom at Bukit Padang, Luyang where some 1,000 people are expected to attend.
