He said the four new branches would also offer Ar Rahnu Islamic pawnbroking services, which is gaining popularity with huge demand especially from customers who want to venture into business.

"Ar Rahnu services which was introduced in 2015 have garnered very good response as we pay very high mortgage value with the lowest service charge compared with other competitors.

"The branch in Batu Pahat and Kuala Selangor will operate in September while those in Port Dickson and Temerloh will open the latest by December this year," he said to reporters at Co-opbank Persatuan's Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations here, Monday.

Elaborating further, Mohd Nor said the sale of shares in the bank is still open to those who are interested.

"We are still taking in new additional members if anyone is interested.

At present, we already have RM700 million in members share capital and we will close when it reaches RM1 billion.

"This is a good opportunity for the public to invest in a cooperative bank such as Bank Rakyat," he said. –Bernama
