Poor condition of Telipok Health Clinic shocks YB
INANAM: Inanam Assemblyman Kenny Chua has expressed shock over the condition of the Telipok Health Clinic which has not been properly maintained, with even its queue number calling system not been functioning for some time.He said as a facility that provides health services to the community, the clinic's poor condition is unacceptable and requires urgent repair and maintenance.

He called on the relevant state and federal ministries to assist in improving the situation as health services are a basic need of the community.

"I was told that there used to be a contractor appointed by the federal to do maintenance work at the clinic, but the contractor's service was terminated more than a year ago. How could this happen?

"What's worse is I found that the queue number calling system has not been working for some time, showing just how desperate the situation is," he said after making a spot check at the clinic, Monday.

He took note of the poor condition of the clinic's toilets and air-conditioning system, few of which were out of order, as well as broken seats and ceilings and lack of beds and baby cots.

"The facilities here are in bad shape.

So, I appeal to the State Health Ministry to intervene by urging its federal counterpart to assist in improving the condition of the clinic.

"What we need urgently is to appoint a contractor to properly maintain the clinic and keep it in good condition for the comfort of the public," said Chua, who is also State Finance Assistant Minister.

He said he was informed that lack of funds was the reason for the clinic to be in such poor condition.

Pending actions from the relevant ministries, Chua agreed to contribute equipment to ensure better facilities for clinic staff, patients and visitors.

He also noted that the clinic is in need of security personnel and systems.

"I was told that there was a theft the night before. We can never allow incidents like this to happen in a place where people come to seek treatment," he said. - Leonard Alaza
