'MyKasih needs to improve cashless payment system'

Putra Jaya: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail wants the implementation of the cashless payment technology used by non-profit organisation MyKasih Foundation to be reviewed so that aid payments can be speeded up and costs reduced.Dr Wan Azizah, who is also Women, Family and Community Development Minister, said the review is aimed at bringing about innovation for cost reduction and improving the quality of service delivery.

"The innovation process is the foundation for prudent spending and requires creativity and involvement of the process' owners to identify opportunities for improvement whereby feedback from the customers should be evaluated diligently," she said.

Speaking at the ministry's monthly gathering here Monday, Dr Wan Azizah said that she had asked its secretary-general Datuk Dr Rose Lena Lazemi to look into the matter.

MyKasih assists the less fortunate purchase daily necessities via the identification chip of their Mykad according to a pre-set limit.

The Deputy Prime Minister also reminded the ministry's staff not to be influenced by political considerations in dealing with the people.

"We must help them based on their needs, Perlis, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Sarawak (states not held by the Pakatan Harapan coalition) must also be given equal treatment.

"Do not at any time sideline any state just because they are not under Pakatan Harapan-rule.

This is my commitment and I expect the same from the ministry's staff.

"Let us together focus our efforts on looking after the welfare of the people and building this nation," she added.

Dr Wan Azizah also stressed that promotion prospects, performance evaluation and opportunities for self-improvement would not be determined based on political leanings.

Touching on social problems in the country, she said the ministry also needed to look into rebuilding the values system and spirit of neighbourliness to tackle social ills.

Following the gathering, Dr Wan Azizah launched the Daya Cafe outlet at the Ministry's lobby.

The outlets are an initiative by the Welfare Department involving collaboration between Sekretariat Ketua Pengarah Kebajikan Masyarakat Diperbadankan, the ministry's Management Services Division and the Visitors Board of Bengkel Daya Klang, Selangor.

Open from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday, the outlet, which is manned by two staff from Bengkel Daya Klang, sells ready to eat items like pastries while vending machines dispense drinks. – Bernama
